Did you know that the history of the Yankee Candle brand is a true American success story? It all started in 1969, when Mike Kittredge, then sixteen years old, had no money for a gift for his mother, melted some old wax crayons and made a candle for her. Luckily, the neighbors saw it and talked the boy into selling one to them as well. In this way, Mike earned enough to buy enough wax to make... two candles. This is how the Yankee Candle brand was born.

Over the decades, the brand has developed dynamically, until it finally transformed from a family business into an international corporation. At some point, the brand's founder decided to sell it, and after some time he returned to creating candles and founded the Kringle Candle, Country Candle and Kittredge Candle brands.
