How to care for scented candles - a practical guide

A well-chosen scented candle can change the atmosphere of the entire room - add warmth, elegance, wrap the room in fragrance. But even the best candle needs proper care. With a few simple habits, you'll prolong its life, improve the quality of your smoke, and make the most of its potential.

1. Trim the wick to the correct length

Before you light the candle - trim the wick to about 0.5 cm. A wick that's too long can kick up, cause uneven combustion and dirty the glass.

2. Keep your wax clean

Don't put matches, wrappers or crumbs in the candle - contaminants can affect the smell and cause fuming. Before lighting, you need to remove visible residue from the wax surface.

3. Always let the wax melt to the edges

This will prevent the so-called tunneling of the candle. If you finish burning too early, a tunnel will form and the candle will not burn evenly. The first time you smoke it, let it burn min. 1-2 hours (until all the wax has melted). The recommended burning time is approximate and may vary depending on the size of the candle, number of wicks, etc.

4. Extinguish the candle with sensitivity

Blowing out the candle can lead to smoke and wax splatter. Instead, use a candle extinguisher - elegant and safe.

5. Store candles away from light and heat

Candles are best stored in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight. This will avoid discoloration, distortion and weakening of the fragrance.

6. Use decorative and protective caps

If you burn candles in a draft or close to a window - decorative caps can help with even burning. They are also a stylish addition!

FAQ - frequently asked questions

Can a candle kick?

Yes, most often by too long a wick. Just trim it and the problem goes away.

How long should the candle burn?

At the first burning - until the entire surface of the wax is melted. Later: preferably no more than 4 hours at a time.

Can the candle stand on a radiator or near a heat source?

Not recommended - may warp or lose fragrance. Ambient heat affects wax structure.
