Aromatherapy as a solution to the winter blues
Christmas, Christmas and after Christmas... and there are at least three long winter months ahead of us. January is considered one of the most difficult months for everyone affected by SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). There are many ways to combat the winter blues, such as supplementing with vitamin D3 under the supervision of a doctor, spending time outdoors (sunshine!) and physical activity. However, if you are one of those people for whom this is not enough, did you know that by using properly selected fragrances you can positively influence your mood? Aromatherapy as a solution to the winter blues! Here's how to use it in practice!
Aromatherapy as a solution to the winter blues
Not all aromatherapy oils have the same effect on mood. In the fight against the winter blues, we look for oils with specific properties, including:
- Lavender oil
- Peppermint oil
- Cedarwood oil
- Frankincense oil
- Citrus oils (orange oil, lemongrass oil, grapefruit oil or bergamot oil)
Of course, they can be used separately as an addition to fragrance lamps, but there is nothing stopping you from mixing oils and creating your own compositions. You can also successfully use aromatherapy oils as an addition to a whole body massage. This is another great way to beat the winter blues.
And if not aromatherapy oil, then what?
You don't have to use only classic essential oils in glass bottles to benefit from the benefits of aromatherapy. An excellent and convenient alternative are natural candles with essential oils, such as those from the Essential Elements collection. If you like scented waxes, you'll love those with essential oil! An interesting aromatherapy alternative for winter will be the use of Scent Bursts.
What should you remember before using aromatherapy with oils?
Oils used for aromatherapy are highly condensed, so they should not be applied directly to the skin in undiluted form. These oils are also not suitable for consumption. They should be kept away from children and animals.
