How to use essential oils in an aroma burner?
Aromatherapy is a natural way to relax after a hard and stressful day. Thanks to scent therapy, we can influence our mood. Aromatherapy has been used for centuries, and its power has been repeatedly confirmed by modern science. Essential oils used in aromatherapy not only give your interior a beautiful scent, but can also soothe your senses and relieve muscle tension. Some essential oils are also natural agents that block the development of bacteria, viruses, fungi and even mites. A perfect example is tea tree oil, which is also successfully used in cosmetics.
Why is it worth using essential oils?
It is worth using the benefits of aromatherapy not only to provide our interior with a pleasant scent, but also to improve our well-being. Did you know that during periods of increased incidence of colds or flu, you can use essential oils as a form of supportive therapy thanks to their soothing effect on the first symptoms of a cold. Oils are perfect for colds. In such a situation, it is also a good idea to use them in a modern aromatherapy lamp (also called an ultrasonic diffuser).
Fragrance oil burners - types
Scented burners available on the market are divided into traditional ones, heated by a tealight candle, and electric scented burners designed for scented waxes and scented papers. We can use a traditional fragrance oil heater for essential, natural or fragrance oils, but also - in the vast majority of cases - for fragrance waxes. Therefore, to start your adventure with scents, a traditional fireplace with a candle-type tealight will work great. For example, some people prefer fireplaces with a removable upper bowl, while others prefer when the bowl is permanently attached to the fireplace.
How to use essential oils in an aroma burner?
- Pour water into the bowl at the top of the fireplace and then add a few drops of fragrance oil. It is always better to start with a smaller number of drops, for example 3 - 5. If we think that the aroma could be more intense, we can always increase the amount of oil in the bowl.
- Place a tealight candle under the bowl (a classic, unscented candle - natural candles made of 100% soy wax are perfect). Before each lighting of the candle, we trim the wick to a length of approximately 5 mm (use a special wick trimmer for this purpose).
- Light the candle and wait until the water in the bowl begins to evaporate, releasing the scent of the oil. Pay attention to the amount of water in the bowl - extinguish the candle before the water completely evaporates from the fireplace.
What should you pay attention to when using a fragrance oil burner?
- Always place the scented oil burner out of the reach of pets and small children and away from flammable objects.
- Do not leave a fireplace with a lit candle unattended.
- The fireplace and the water in it heat up to a high temperature under the influence of a lit candle, so you must be careful not to burn yourself.
- There should be water in the bowl at all times during use. If the water evaporates completely, it will cause the bowl in the fireplace to overheat. This may result in it cracking or burning.
- To extinguish a candle, we use a special candle extinguisher.
- To keep the fireplace clean, wipe it with a clean, damp cloth.
